['rəʊvə gruːp-], britischer Kfz-Hersteller, entstanden 1968 durch Fusion mehrerer Vorläuferunternehmen als British Leyland Limited, seit 1986 Firmierung unter Rover Group PLC; Sitz: London. Das ehemals staatliche Unternehmen wurde 1988 an die British Aerospace PLC und 1994 an die BMW AG verkauft. Aufgrund jahrelanger Verlustgeschäfte veräußerte BMW am 9. 5. 2000 Rover an eine britische Investorengruppe (Phoenix-Konsortium); die Geländewagensparte Land Rover ging an die Ford Motor Company.
